Honors and Recognition
The Downers Grove Historical Society honors individuals who have made signficant contributions to Downers Grove. Three seperate programs focus on on historians, pioneers, and citizens at large for their unique contributions.
- Historian of the Year - recognizes individuals who have significantly promoted and preserved Downers Grove History.
- Founder of the Year - recognizes those instrumental in the founding of Downers Grove. The first recipient was Pierce Downer, for whom the village was named.
- Montrew Dunham Award - recognizes individuals whose significant service and contributions to the Village of Downers Grove have earned them a place in its history, following in the footsteps of noted teacher, author, historian, and community volunteer, Montrew Dunham.
